A Collective Investment Trust (CIT) is a trust created and administered by a bank or trust company that commingles assets from multiple clients. A CIT is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"); therefore it is not subject to the Investment Company Act of 1940. A CIT is; however, subject to banking regulations.
